摘要
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released through the skin (transcutaneous gas) have been increasingly important for the continuous and real-time assessment of diseases or metabolisms. In this study, we investigated the possibility of external ears for stable and real-time measurement of ethanol vapor by developing a headset-type monitoring system with an over-ear gas collection cell and a biochemical gas sensor (bio-sniffer). The high sensitivity with the wide dynamic range from 10 ppb to 554 ppm, the high selectivity to ethanol caused by enzyme specificity, and the capability of the continuous measurement of the monitoring system has successfully measured the external ear-derived ethanol-related blood one after drinking.
