An Efficient energy harvesting technology for TENG–Electric Filed Hybrid System

The efficient management of hybrid power sources can provide more energy to the wireless sensor network (WSN), further extending its operating time, or even enabling a battery-free state. This study presents a synchronous charge extraction technology and circuit implementation for simultaneously harvesting energy from triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) and electric fields. Specifically, the designed circuit automatically detects the voltage peak of either TENG or electric-field energy harvester and immediately releases the charge to the DC-DC circuit, so that the energy efficiency can be improved. Additionally, we propose a pulse width modulation (PWM) circuit that adjusts the pulse width of the control signal to reduce false triggering caused by redundant peaks and improve the circuit's robustness. The proposed technology and circuit structure can be widely applied to various capacitive energy harvesting systems.
