Traumatic left common carotid artery thrombosis with ischemic brain injury: A case report

•The neck is a complex region that contains vital structures hence injury poses life-threatening events.•Penetrating neck injuries (PNIs) are associated with a mortality rate of up to 10 %.•CT angiography is the most preferred investigation of choice by most clinicians for neck trauma.•Clinicians should assess the injury in terms of the zones of the neck and hemodynamic stability to plan management.
