Nonuniform Grid Single-Field WCS FDTD Method Applied to Multithread Simulation of MIMO Dielectric Resonator Antenna

To implement more efficient simulations, nonuniform grid modeling is presented in this letter, which is integrated with the single-field weakly conditionally stable (WCS) finite different time-domain (FDTD) method. Modified Douglas–Gunn method is introduced to guarantee stability. Meanwhile, high multithread computational efficiency is also maintained as the single thread updating procedure is prevented. A newly designed triangular prism dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) array with function of multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) is used to verify the method. Simulation results are in very good agreement with experiments for the designed MIMO DRA. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by measurement, and up to 18.2% of multithread simulation time is saved compared to the one-step leapfrog WCS FDTD method.
