摘要
Visible light communication (VLC) is considered to be a significant component of future wireless communications. It is envisioned to be useful in dynamic environments such as underwater VLC and vehicle-to-vehicle. However, the large field of view (FOV) and high transmission capacity of the receiver were hard to satisfy simultaneously in previous work due to the limitation of extension conservation. For solving this problem, a orthogonal polarization multiplexed large field-of-view fluorescent antennas (PMFA) for the VLC system was proposed in this work. Orthogonal polarization crosstalk-free multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology can be achieved in large FOV conditions by combining the fluorescent antenna and polarizers in the PMFA. The results show that the receiver with PMFA in S and P polarization can achieve an effective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvement of 191% respectively in a large FOV from 40° to 80° compared with the traditional structure. In addition, the overall communication rate of the PMFA is increased by 80% because the signals in different polarization can be captured independently and multiplexed. Finally, the PMFA was used for an underwater VLC, which showed considerable character transmission accuracy. Our work provides a feasible strategy to simultaneously address the lack of field of view and increase system capacity in VLC.
