Multi-Polarization High Gain $16\times 8$ Array Horn Antenna with Superstrate for Downlink Satellite Communication

The polarization and gain are the most important things in satellite communication. Each country or region uses different polarizations to prevent signal interference. Multi-polarization and high gain are essential to receive signals anywhere, regardless of skew and the country or region. In this study, we propose a multi-polarization, high gain $\mathbf{16}\times \mathbf{8}$ array antenna with a superstrate for satellite communication. This antenna targets the 10.7 - 12.75 GHz band, which is a widely commercialized satellite communication band. The proposed antenna achieves multi-polarization by using septum polarizers, and a fish-net pattern superstrate is proposed to enhance the gain of the antenna. The array antenna feed line structure is located between each single antenna unit to reduce the height of the array antenna. The proposed antenna achieves multi-polarization, a peak gain of more than 35 dB, and high cross-polarization discrimination.
