•Point-of-care ultrasound is now considered a core skill of anesthesia residents.•Objective structured clinical examinations help residents prepare for board exams.•Our data depicts a large sample of ultrasound exam results in anesthesia residents.•Residents could replicate basic cardiopulmonary ultrasound views and ID structures.•Advanced interpretive ultrasound skills and maneuvers were more challenging.
