Clinical pharmacists' perspective of medication adherence support in Ethiopian hospital settings: a qualitative study.

Medication adherence support could face barriers intrinsic or extrinsic to patients. Strategies were proposed to overcome the identified barriers and to harness existing facilitators. These strategies included the need for validated local language medication adherence tools, instituting regular adherence measurement and prioritizing patients for available interventions. Patient's preferred dosage form should be considered along with medication complexity and medication knowledge when supporting medication adherence.
