Development of 3D Scanned Environment in Virtual Reality

摘要
The advancement of 3D scanning technology creates new opportunity for the development of immersive digital environments in virtual reality (VR). The development of a VR application using phone LiDAR, Unity, and Oculus console is presented in this paper to visualise and navigate a 3D-scanned environment. The VR application enables users to navigate in the virtual spaces and to teleport between rooms or buildings using a remote controller. This study focuses on the application’s development process, technical limitations, and usability, demonstrating its potential use cases in fields such as engineering prototyping, construction, interior design, gaming, and virtual tourism. The viability of combining 3D scanning technology with VR tools can rapidly create an interactive and immersive experiences, thereby leading to fast deployment in VR applications.
