Small Compact Folded Loop Antenna Feed for Wide Band Reflector Antennas

A small compact feed antenna has been designed to meet the need for a 2 to 14 GHz frequency of operation for a reflector antenna. The feed has a nearly constant gain of 11dBi up to 10GHz and a slight drop of 1dB at higher bands 10 to 14 GHz. The broad beam, essentially constant gain, a small variation of phase center, and small cross-polarization of the feed make it suitable for a wideband reflector antenna system. The step-wise novel, a simple design method for such a large bandwidth-fed antenna, has been discussed, and simulated results of gain cross-polarization and return loss are presented.
