Conservation prioritization of the northern hills of Uruguay based on the intra-specific phylogenetic diversity of frogs and lizards

•Prioritization of conservation areas is usually based on phylogenetic diversity (PD).•We used intra-specific PD to prioritize conservation areas in northern Uruguay.•We analyzed the partitioning of PD among areas in four species of lizards and frogs.•We developed an R package (areaPD) to rank areas based on their shared PD patterns.•Our prioritized areas in northern Uruguay are under varying levels of anthropization.
