•FA is not effective in reducing early-age shrinkage under wind speed conditions.•Wind speed and FA enhance water evaporation at different stages.•rs can characterizes early shrinkage changes in cement paste with FA and wind speed.•BSE-IA can intuitively characterize pore size distribution above 200 nm.•The current rs obtained based on MIP may be smaller than the actual value.
