Vanquishing CZTSSe deep defects to enhance photoelectrocatalytic water splitting

摘要
•Ag-substituted CZTSSe photocathodes were applied to produce hydrogen from water.•Adding Ag results in efficiency 6 times higher than that for the Ag-free CZTSSe.•Quasi-Fermi level splitting and band gap were obtained by AIPL.•Quasi-Fermi level pinning is related to the onset shift value.•Ag substitution vanquishes cuzn related defects, improving the H2 production.
