Need for Quality Improvement in Echocardiography in Australia

Quality improvement (QI) by assessing reproducibility of point estimates such as ejection fraction, pulmonary artery systolic pressure, and agreement with respect to hierarchical categories (e.g., severity of mitral regurgitation and severity of diastolic dysfunction) underpin the delivery of accurate echocardiography reports. Currently, there is no requirement for assessment of reproducibility or agreement within echocardiography labs in Australia.
