Importance of MPFL bracing in the surgical treatment of patellar dislocation A literature review

Reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) using an autologous tendon graft is a frequently performed surgical procedure with very good clinical results. The use of MPFL bracing techniques with non-resorbable sutures represents a possible alternative without the need for tendon harvesting. Although the current evidence is still limited, the available clinical and biomechanical results are promising and comparable to those of MPFL reconstruction using autologous tendons.
