Short and long-term testosterone administration impairs in vitro fertilization outcomes with improvement following a washout period in a mouse model of gender-affirming hormone care

While there is consensus among major medical societies that fertility preservation counseling should be offered prior to initiation of gender-affirming treatments, in practice this counseling is inconsistent and often inadequate. Current evidence suggests a potential detrimental impact of testosterone on ovarian function and fertility, but it is uncertain whether this impact is duration dependent or reversible.
