摘要
Background: High oil-absorption resin/polyurethane composite coating as the novel type of self-sealing coating has broad application prospects in leakage prevention of fuel containers. Resistance to environment of self-sealing coating is the critical factor for practical application. Methods: The oil-absorption properties of the high oil-absorption resin at different ambient temperatures were investigated. The mechanical properties of polyurethane coating and the self-sealing coating were carried out at different temperatures. Both the oil-resistance property and the resistance to xenon lamp irradiation of the self-sealing coating were measured.Significant findings: The saturated oil-absorption capacity of the high oil-absorption resin for kerosene was 11.59 g/g only in 5 minutes at 70 & DEG;C. The tensile strength of the self-sealing coating was 38.1 MPa (-55 & DEG;C) and 20.6 MPa (-25 & DEG;C), respectively. The elongation at break of the self-sealing coating was reduced from 278% to 130% after immersion in diesel for 28 days. After 28 days of xenon lamp treatment, the elongation at break of the self-sealing coating decreased from 297% to 215%. Xenon lamp irradiation accelerated the curing process of the coating and broke chemical bonds on the surface of the coating. The excellent resistance to environment of self-sealing coating provided the broad prospect for practical applications.
