Expectation Propagation Based Signal Detection for MIMO-OFDM with Inter-Carrier Interference

The sixth-generation (6G) network is expected to support various applications such as broadband multimedia transmission with high mobility. With very high frequency and very high mobility, the transmit signal may suffer from time-frequency selective fading and high Doppler spread. For orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the orthogonality can therefore not be maintained, leading to inter-carrier interference (ICI) inevitably. The quality-of-service (QoS) requirements can also not be guaranteed for Long Term Evolution based broadband multimedia transmission. This paper investigates the MIMO(multiple-input multiple-output)-OFDM systems with inter-carrier interference and proposes an expectation propagation (EP) based method for signal detection. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has very good performance but relatively low complexity compared with other conventional methods.
