Design of an S/X Dual-Band Shared Aperture Antenna Array

In this paper, a dual-band shared aperture antenna array operating at S- and X-band is presented. In the topology, microstrip patch structure at S-band is stacked by X-band patch antennas. By means of structure reuse technology and physical isolation of feed networks, high channel isolation between the two frequency bands has been achieved. Measured results agree well with the simulations. The proposed antenna array has an impedance bandwidth of 6.1% at S-band and 14.8% at X-band.
