Obesity and asthma

Obesity is greatly involved in the pathophysiology of asthma in both children and adults with both excess bodyweight and excessive accumulation of body fat. Obesity is related to an increased risk of asthma and also exacerbates bronchial asthma, the mechanism of which varies greatly depending on age, sex, respiratory function, type (i.e., allergic vs. nonallergic), location of fat deposition, and associated immunological changes with metabolic disorders.
