Abnormal event detection for video surveillance using an enhanced two-stream fusion method

•We proposed a unified classification and prediction fusion framework for detecting different types of abnormal events in surveillance videos.•With the assistance of motion features, our AED algorithm is more sensitive to abnormal events in a crowded environment.•Extensive experiments confirm the efficacy and robustness of the proposed framework for AED.•The types of abnormal events on some public AED datasets are analysed, and the accuracies of identifying abnormal events are also counted.
