摘要
Uterine leiomyomas are the most common benign tumors of the female reproductive system and can be found in up to 80% of women (1). Uterine fibroids can cause significant morbidity, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, urinary frequency, constipation, and represent a common cause of infertility. Hysterectomy provides a definitive treatment at the expense of losing the organ and the prospect of future fertility. Choosing the ideal therapeutic option for patients with symptomatic fibroids presents a clinical dilemma frequently faced by the patient and her gynecologist. This issue of JMIG includes two studies that shed some light that will aid in shared decision-making for MIGS surgeons and the patient with symptomatic uterine fibroids.
