摘要
In Lao PDR, there is still a lack of knowledge on insect biodiversity. In order to address this, we investigated coleopteran biodiversity in Dong Hua Sao and Hin Nam No National Protected Areas (NPAs). The collection methods involved the use of window traps, pitfall traps, and light traps to capture beetle specimens. A total of 236 beetle specimens were recorded, representing 24 genera and 44 species. Specifically, we collected 123 specimens from Dong Hua Sao NPA, belonging to 19 genera and 25 species, while 113 specimens were obtained from Hin Nam No NPA, representing 13 genera and 25 species. Among the collection methods, pitfall traps proved to be the most effective in terms of species richness and abundance. Nevertheless, there were no significant differences observed in species richness and abundance of beetle communities between the two NPAs. Our results contribute towards an improved understanding of insect species diversity and approaches for conserving biological resources in Lao PDR.
