摘要
Measurements of colorless particles play a unique role in understanding new quantum chromodynamic (QCD) matter, which is known to be the state of the early universe, called a quark-gluonplasma (QGP). We use interpolation and extrapolation techniques with a power-law function to study the production cross section of the W boson in the pp collision based on the existing measurements of the D0, CMS, and ATLAS experiments. We computed the inclusive and the differential cross sections as functions of the transverse momentum and the absolute pseudorapidity of the muon decayed from the W bosons at √(s) = 8.16 TeV . To verify our analysis method, we employed the PYTHIA Monte-Carlo generator and compared the extrapolated results. This study can provide a meaningful reference for W boson analysis of the data obtained from the pPb collision at √(s) = 8.16 TeV performed in 2016.
