Leadership and Gender Equity: A Perspective of the Federacion Argentina de Cardiologia to Identify Barriers and Design Future Interventions

The Federacion Argentina de Cardiologia - FAC ( Argentine Federation of Cardiology) assembles annually for current leaders to interact with members with future leadership potential. The theme selected for year 2021 was "Leadership and gender equity" (GE), with the following objectives: 1-to analyze the importance of GE in the fields of medicine and cardiology; 2-to learn about the historical and current reality in our country and our Federation; 3-to identify barriers in specific areas to allow planning for feasible solutions; 4-to perform a training on the subject and 5-to draw up the experience in this document. The FAC must respond in a transformative way to the challenge of health and gender. Recognizing the traveled trajectory and the goals will facilitate the identification of barriers and propose interventions to overcome them. This document, as part of the innovative process, analyzes the contributions of women to leadership and proposes actions at the level of federated societies, scientific committees, organization of scientific events, community dissemination strategies and the workplace. The Institution will continue to promote and firmly support equity and diversity as basic values of social behavior.
