Numerical Validation of Analytical Results for FSO Links with Chromatic Dispersion and Normally Distributed Time Jitter.

Apart from the obvious advantages of FSO communications, there are many aggravating effects that delimit their potentially high performance. Many research papers have presented models that accurately address some of these effects. The aim of this work is the numerical evaluation of a model’s analytically derived results. The model examined here includes the stochastic, time jitter effect on chromatically dispersed, longitudinal Gaussian pulses. The analytical and numerical results are compared through their expected and median irradiance, and the standard deviation of the model’s distribution. Conclusively, the obtained results and their accuracy are discussed for all the cases under consideration.
