Sex differences in depression, anxiety and health-promoting lifestyles among community residents: A network approach

•We assessed sex differences in profiles of depressive and anxiety symptoms and health-promoting lifestyles in community.•Restlessness and low energy yield highest centrality in the female network.•Suicide ideation and restlessness were central in the male network.•Physical activity and stress management were the central mental health promoting behaviors in both networks.•The results assist health care providers in developing sex-specific strategies to better promote community mental health.
