Effects of perioperative use of esketamine on postpartum depression risk in patients undergoing cesarean section: A randomized controlled trial

•Postpartum depression (PPD) is a type of mood disorder associated with childbirth.•Perioperative injection of esketamine did not block the development of PPD risk after cesarean section.•Esketamine reduced the opioid consumption in women after cesarean section.•There were no differences in adverse effects between the two groups.
