Elucidating the hydrogen adsorption kinetics on Pt/TiO2/Pt based highly efficient sensors

•Successful fabrication of metal/semiconductor/metal based sensors.•Pt/TiO2/Pt system showed high response ∼104–10,000 ppm H2 at room temperature.•Intensive studies of adsorption kinetics fitting with various adsorption models.•Ho's second order model fitted exceptionally well with the experimental data.
