Hierarchical MWCNTs@Li4Ti5O12 nano-composites as promising cathode for rechargeable mg batteries

•Micron scale LTO particles are firstly applied in rechargeable magnesium batteries by constructing hierarchical structure.•The uniform and facile coating of MWCNTs is realized to improve electrical conductivity.•It shows a high capacity of 165 and 99 mAh/g at 20 and 100 mA g−1, respectively.•It exhibits better rate and cycling capability than LTO nanomaterials.
