摘要
•Proximal femoral fractures are rare and usually due to high-energy trauma. It's mandatory to search for associated injuries.•Osteonecrosis is a complication with main risk factors such as displaced fractures and patients older than 10 years of age.•The ideal treatment is based on anatomical reduction, stable fixation and surgery in the first 24 h after trauma.•Follow-up should be every 2 weeks for the first 2 months. Return to sports can be released around 4 months post-operative.
