•Electrofuel production tackles hard-to-abate sectors in reaching net-zero emissions.•122 kW industry electrolyser could produce 17,100 kg H2/a at a cost of €8.92/kg H2.•Scale can be considered the key enabler for green hydrogen production.•Oxygen from electrolysis could reduce emissions from aeration by 16.04 tCO2eq/a.•Coupling anaerobic digestion with digestate pyrolysis can remove 42.7 kt CO2/a.
