Application of bioinspired W/WO3 electrodes electrochemically constructed on microbial biofilm for the disinfection of dialysate contaminated by Candida parapsilosis

•A bioinspired W/WO3 electrodes constructed on microbial biofilm from C. parapsilosis by electrochemical anodization has been constructed satisfactorily.•The W/WO3 bioinspired electrodes were applied to disinfect the dialysate used in the hemodialysis process by photoelectrocatalysis.•The use of bioinspired electrodes resulted in the death of 1.0 x 106 CFU. mL-1 of C. parapsilosis with one minute of treatment and organic matter mineralization around 80%.
