摘要
Care of the older cancer population is complex and challenging. Older adults are underrepresented in clinical trials, which drive oncology treatment [ [1] Bertagnolli M.M. Singh H. Treatment of older adults with cancer — addressing gaps in evidence. N Engl J Med. 2021; 385 ([1-62-65]) Crossref PubMed Scopus (18) Google Scholar ]. Older patients may have diminished physiological reserve and geriatric syndromes that may impact on oncology management [ [2] Rostoft S. O’Donovan A. Soubeyran P. Alibhai S.M.H. Hamaker M.E. Geriatric assessment and management in cancer. J Clin Oncol. 2021; 39: 2058-2068 Crossref PubMed Scopus (42) Google Scholar ]. Lung cancer management is further complicated by prevalence of comorbidity [ [3] Grose D. Morrison D.S. Devereux G. et al. Comorbidities in lung cancer: prevalence, severity and links with socioeconomic status and treatment. Postgrad Med J. 2014; 90: 305-310 Crossref PubMed Scopus (35) Google Scholar ].
