摘要
Amyloidosis of the tongue is a rare manifestation of amyloidosis in the mouth, which is a disorder of protein metabolism that can sometimes affect multiple organs. In this case report, we present the first known instance of amyloidosis of the tongue at our hospital. The patient sought medical attention due to a gradually swelling tongue that had been affecting their eating and speech for four years. Upon examination, the tongue appeared swollen and wider than the periodontal, with outwardly pressed gums. A histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of lingual amyloidosis. Given the patient's difficulty tolerating surgery, temporary primary treatment involved bortezomib-based chemotherapy. While generalized amyloidosis invading tongue tissue is rare, it is important to maintain awareness and vigilance to ensure early detection and treatment.
