Invited Commentary: Transparent reporting of artificial intelligence models development and evaluation in surgery: The TRIPOD and DECIDE-AI checklists.

With the rapid growth of surgical literature involving artificial intelligence (AI), the need for complete and structured reporting of AI studies has become more apparent. This commentary details how 2 reporting guidelines, the AI extension of the Transparent Reporting of a multivariable prediction model for Individual Prognosis Or Diagnosis (TRIPOD+AI)1 and the Developmental and Exploratory Clinical Investigations of DEcision-support systems driven by Artificial Intelligence (DECIDE-AI),2 can contribute to improving the completeness of reporting of studies describing the development and evaluation of AI models in surgery.
