Hoof Unevenness in Juvenile Quarter Horses During First 6 Months of Training

•Lameness incidence did not differ between even or uneven feet in fore- or hindlimbs in juvenile Quarter Horses entering training.•Palmar or plantar angles of the distal phalanx did not differ between lame and nonlame forelimbs or hindlimbs in juvenile Quarter Horses entering training in this short study duration.•Differences in hoof measurements (fore and hind), specifically toe length, heel length and heel angle, were noted over time between the left and right side as juvenile Quarter Horses entered training.
