•PLA enhanced the mechanical strength and HA tips shortened the using time of patches.•UiO-66 prolonged the releasing process of MNX significantly.•UiO-66 could maintain the long-term (28 days) release of MNX.•MNX@UiO-66 loaded patches exhibited excellent therapeutic effect in mice model.•The mechanism of MNX@UiO-66 patches on alopecia was discussed via western blotting test.
