•Association between EBRT characteristics and SPC risk after EBRT for PCa.•Relative risks (SIRs) to the general population were calculated for the RT groups.•Increased pelvis SPC risks were lower with advanced EBRT versus 3D-CRT.•Non-pelvis SPC risks did not correlate with evaluated EBRT characteristics.
