Application of integrated geological and structural investigations to the discovery of new mineral zones related to the Daping gold deposit, Southwest China

•The Daping gold deposit is a typical orogenic gold deposit.•The quartz-vein type gold mineralization was superimposed by the porphyry gold mineralization at the Daping gold deposit, which is supported by the discovery of the new quartz-vein and porphyry orebodies in the Daping gold mine area.
