摘要

•We proposed a polyimide (PI)-coated fiber Bragg grating (FBG) salinity sensor with improved capillary coating method.•The response of capillary coated PI-FBG with different coating to salinity were systematically investigated.•The measurement results of the encapsulated sensor are highly consistent with those of the electronic salinometer.
