More silicon-deep in the nanovalley-

Some topics on the studies of nanostructured Si are presented. The emphasis is laid on the unique features of nano-Si systems in relation to Si quantum dots (Si-QDs), nano-textures, and their functional applications (such as hybrid solar cell, hetero epitaxy, pore filling, quasiballistic electron emitter, thermoacoustic effect, and phononics. Focusing on the close relation of Si to human body, nutritional, biometric, and medical importance of nanostructured Si is also addressed.
