摘要

•Novel crossed twin disks of zinc oxide were fabricated by the vapor-phase transport method.•SEM, TEM, XRD and Raman were employed to characterize the nanodisks.•The formation mechanism of this type of nanodisks has been uniquely identified and discussed.
