Asphalt mixture fatigue damage and failure predictions using the simplified viscoelastic continuum damage (S-VECD) model

•Conducted analysis based on single replicate tests and multiple replicate tests to compare the S-VECD model’s prediction accuracy.•Evaluated the S-VECD model’s prediction errors based on stress versus strain as the model input.•Demonstrated the influence of fitting errors on C vs. S curve.•Recommended that strain should be used as the model input and the modified power law-based fitting method should be used in practice.
