Characterization of immune development of fetal and early-life of minipigs

•The immune system of fetal and newborns is known to be a more sensitive toxicologic target for drugs.•Innate and adaptive immunity was functioning in response to stimuli during fetal development.•The immunological parameters in developing fetuses and newborns were identified using minipigs.•Minipigs are a good animal model for developmental immunotoxicity.
