Green synthesis of ZnO-Ag nanocomposite using Stenotaphrum secundatum grass extract: Antibacterial activity and anticancer effect in oral squamous cell carcinoma CAL 27 cells

摘要
•Stenotaphrum secundatum (buffalo grass) grass extract used for the formation of novel ZnO-Ag nanocomposites (NCs) using green chemistry.•Phytochemical components responsible for the bio-reduction of ZnO-Ag NCs were identified with GC–MS.•Structural and functional characterization of the nanoparticles were determined.•Biosynthesized ZnO-Ag NCs showed enhanced antibacterial and anticancer activity compared to ZnONPs and AgNPs.•ZnO-Ag NCs significantly inhibited cell cycle and induces apoptosis.
