Overutilization of PET-CT in staging of pancreatic neoplasms

Background: According to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, the role of positron emission tomography-computed tomography scan (PET-CT) in staging of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNET) is unclear. This study evaluates the importance of this image modality in patients with PDAC or PNET who underwent a PET-CT as part of their staging workup.
