Valorisation of waste biomass and plastics toward light aromatics: Co-catalytic fast pyrolysis of torrefied bamboo and polyethylene over alkali and acid treated hierarchical HZSM-5

•Co-CFP of torrefied bamboo and PE remarkably improved the yield of BTX.•40% of oxygen element was removed from bamboo after TDP.•Comparison between the alkali and acid treated hierarchical HZSM-5 was performed.•0.2 M NaOH treated hierarchical HZSM-5 showed best catalytic performance.•Synergistic reaction between torrefied bamboo and HDPE was disscussed.
