Study on liquid dispersion characteristics in trickle bed reactor based on image processing

•Liquid flow and distribution in the trickle bed reactor was studied.•The visualization information of the liquid flow in the reactor was obtained.•Particle surface wetting efficiency was obtained using image processing method.•Effects of operating conditions, packing way, and liquid properties were discussed.
