Using ecological infrastructure to comprehensively map ecosystem service demand, flow and capacity for spatial assessment and planning

•Ecological Infrastructure is a useful framework for mapping ecosystem services.•Simple, additive models based on causal relationships for demand, flow and capacity indicators were built.•Demand, flow, capacity and ecological condition were combined into a comprehensive performance measure.•Fine-scale maps of single-service and cumulative (multiple services) Ecological Infrastructure were produced.•PROSPER can be applied broadly in the terrestrial, marine and estuarine realms.
